October Wish List

I've decided that at the beginning of every month I'm going to post a wish list, with the items I've been lusting after, have been saving up for or just think are pretty cool. So here is my October Wish List:

I've been eyeing up these Office boots for a little while now and I'm so close to giving in and just buying them. I guess I've been hanging around in case I find some that are even better, but to be honest these are pretty perfect for what I want them for - they'll go with most outfits and I can wear them to work.

How cute is this Pug Mug?! I really have no need for another mug, but I'm tempted to buy it to use at work.

Now that winter is well and truly on its way, I'm in need of some new knitwear. I'm really fussy when it comes to cardigans (and everything else, but particularly cardigans!), but I like the look of this one in H&M. I've only seen it online, so I think I'll have to check it out in store before buying it.

October means Halloween! I'm currently a little obsessed with Lush and I absolutely love these adorable little pumpkins.

A little while ago I spotted a girl wearing a necklace just like this one, but I've only just thought to look for it. This ASOS one is currently out of stock (damn!), so I'm on the lookout for a similar one. Anyone seen one?

Most of the time I don't bother with primer, but my make-up usually only lasts until lunch time. So, I'm debating replacing my okay-ish No.7 primer with either this Smashbox or Benefit primer. I've given them both a whirl after being harassed by the sales women in Boots and I'm quite impressed with both of them. I just need to decide which one! If you've written up a review of either, let me know and I'll check it out.

There's so many texture and effects nail varnishes out at the moment, but I'm really not convinced that having my nails feel like leather or velvet would be enjoyable. I do like this graffiti effect nail varnish from 17 though - my friend at work had it on the other day and it looks quite cool.

I have no idea why, but every time I go into Paperchase, I pick up this robot cup.

So that concludes my first monthly wish list. What's on yours?

Models Own Grape Juice

Review

When I got my first ever full time real-grown-up pay on Friday, I was excited to go and spend some of it as a reward to myself for conquering my first few weeks of commuting and working. It turned out that I didn't buy all that much, but I did by a few Models Own nail varnishes.

I've heard so many people rave about the brand and seen lots of blogs with good reviews, so I was excited to try them out for myself.

This is Grape Juice and I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed. I love the design of the bottle, but was a bit shocked when I went to unscrew the cap and ended up with the lid in my hand, minus the brush! Luckily it was an easy fix, but it definitely didn't give a good first impression.

The varnish goes on pretty well, although the brush seems to hold a bit too much varnish for my liking. I like the colour of it and it does smell like those grape scented gel pens we all used to have at school. It's not particularly forgiving, but that's more to do with the colour, so I won't blame them for that.

I'm going to give the other ones a try soon, so hopefully they'll be able to make up my opinion on Models Own.

Do you have any Models Own products? What do you think?

Meet Buddy

Let me introduce you to my little hedgehog, Buddy. Isn't he gorgeous? For anybody who isn't familiar with the domestic hedgehog, I'll tell you a bit about him. So, he's an African Pygmy Hedgehog and he lives in my bedroom in a vivarium (a wooden box with glass sliding doors on the front). He's nocturnal and runs on his wheel every night, eats cat biscuits and mealworms and he also enjoys the occasional bath (who doesn't?!). He's a funny little character and I definitely know when he's in a strop with me!

I've had him for a couple of years now and although he absolutely stinks, I'm very glad I got him. I love animals and although we already have a family dog (I'll do a post on her another time), it's great to have a pet of my own. Whilst he's obviously adorable, I don't like to promote hedgehogs as pets to everyone - they're not just like a hamster and they need somebody with time to give to them.

Does anybody else have a pet hedgehog?

Hello

The first post is always gonna be the most awkward one, kinda like a first date I guess. So instead of stuttering over my words, forgetting your name and realising only when it's too late that I have lipstick on my teeth, I'm just gonna say - hi, I'm Sophie and I hope you like my blog.
